Presenters:

  • Alex Bols, Canadian Home Builders’ Association
  • Mark Rosen MEA, Building Knowledge Canada

The webinar is the fifth in a series about the proposed changes to the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) 2025 (and related standards) being reviewed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

The webinar reviews specific proposed change-forms (PCFs) to standards/parts of the code. Examples include:

  • PCF 1979: Future-adapted climatic data
  • PCF 1980: Specified wind & snow loads
  • PCF 2018: Updated climatic data for the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB)
  • PCF 2032: Air-envelope behaviour (AEB), heat transfer, air-leakage, condensation control
  • PCF 2033: AEB, ventilation requirements
  • PCF 2042: Tier 1 prescriptive package
  • PCF 2048: Specified wind & snow loads in Part 9
  • PCF 2051: Appendix note for PCF 2032
  • PCF 2061: Overheating in new dwelling units

It also touches on the process/timeline for code review, public comment, and implementation — helping professionals understand when and how these changes might affect their projects.
