This Privacy Policy is applicable to the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (“CACEA”). It demonstrates CACEA’s commitment to privacy and to maintaining a safe website for visitors of all ages. The Policy outlines how CACEA collects and uses information on this website (the “Site”) and is in compliance with Canadian Federal and Provincial privacy laws and regulations, including the Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
While users are not required to register to access the Site, certain sections may request personal information in order to access specific products or services. Use of the Site signifies the user’s acknowledgment and consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If a user does not agree with the Policy, they should not continue to use the Site.
By using the Site and submitting personal information, users signify acceptance of this Privacy Policy—including any updates in effect at the time of use—and agree to its terms and conditions.

This Privacy Policy applies only to CACEA’s Site and not to any third-party websites linked from it. CACEA does not endorse and is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information refers to data that identifies an individual, such as name, address, email address, or phone number. CACEA is the sole owner of the information collected through the Site and only collects information voluntarily provided via email, online applications and registrations, surveys, feedback forms, or other direct contact with users.
CACEA retains personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or to comply with legal requirements. When no longer required, personal data is securely deleted or anonymized.
USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information may be used in aggregate for research, future website development, or—for users who have opted in—for promotional communications. Specifically, CACEA may use personal information to:

- Send promotional material or information about CACEA events and services.

CACEA does not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties outside of the organization, except as necessary to fulfill specific requests (e.g., processing an order) or under the following conditions:

- In cases where a user reports an adverse event or side effect, in which case CACEA may be required to disclose such information to bodies such as, but not limited to, Canadian and/or international regulatory authorities.
Note, any of these disclosures may involve the storage or processing of personal information outside of Canada and may therefore be subject to different privacy laws than those applicable in Canada, including laws that require the disclosure of personal information to governmental authorities under circumstances that are different than those that apply in Canada.
SHARING INFORMATION
CACEA may occasionally share aggregated demographic data with stakeholders. This information is not linked to any personally identifiable information. CACEA uses third-party providers for membership management, event registration, and credit card processing. These providers do not retain, share, or use personal data for secondary purposes. CACEA also partners with third parties (e.g., Member Affinity Partners) to provide specific services to members. When a user signs up for such services, CACEA may share only the necessary information (e.g., name, contact details) with the partner organization to fulfill the request. These third parties are not permitted to use the information for any purpose other than delivering the service.
SECURITY
CACEA takes appropriate precautions to protect personal information. Sensitive information (such as credit card data) submitted through the Site is encrypted and transmitted securely. Look for a lock icon in the browser address bar and “https” at the start of the URL to confirm secure transmission. Offline, access to personally identifiable information is restricted to CACEA personnel who require it to perform specific duties (e.g., membership processing). Computers and servers storing this information are kept in a secure environment.
POLICY CHANGE
