We are the only national association dedicated to representing and supporting EAs across Canada. Through strategic partnerships and a deep focus on the needs of EAs—alongside the building, energy, and environmental sectors—CACEA is committed to advancing the profession and supporting the success of our members.

Membership Details

  • Membership is individual-based, valid from January 1 to December 31
  • Apply online and include all required documentation and fees
  • Payments can be made:
  • By credit card (online)
  • By e-transfer to info@cacea.ca (please include the member’s name)
  • By cheque payable to: Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors
  • Applications must be approved before benefits are activated

Note for FULL and JUNIOR Applicants:
A verification letter from your Service Organization (SO) is required with your application.

FULL Member* (Voting) — $330 + provincial tax

For experienced Energy Advisors (EAs):

  • NRCan-registered EA
  • In good standing with a Service Organization (SO) (Verification letter required)
  • Proof of Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Candidate Member and/or 15 homes tested under an NRCan program (ERS, ENERGY STAR®, R-2000, or Net Zero)
  • Validation by SO or endorsement by a Full Member in good standing

JUNIOR Member (Voting) — $330 + provincial tax

For new or early-career Energy Advisors:

  • NRCan-registered EA
  • In good standing with a Service Organization
  • Proof of Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance
  • Less than 1 year as an EA or under 15 homes tested under an NRCan program (ERS, ENERGY STAR®, R-2000, or Net Zero)

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT Member (Restricted Voting) — $1,500 + provincial tax

For companies or individuals who:

  • Provide products or services to EAs or the building industry
  • Do not provide EA services

TRAINEE Member (Non-voting) — $55 + provincial tax

For those in the early stages of their EA journey:

  • Currently studying to become an EA through a school or independently
  • May have completed only the Foundation Exam
  • Cannot remain in this category for more than 2 years

ASSOCIATE Member (Non-voting) — $220 + provincial tax

For those working in related fields who do not qualify for other categories:

  • Examples: Service Organizations, architects, engineers, builders, tradespeople, field technicians

CACEA Corporate Membership Structure

CACEA offers a Corporate Member Structure option designed for companies that employ Energy Advisors and industry professionals. This structure allows organizations to bundle multiple membership types (e.g., Full, Junior, Associate) under one flat-rate corporate fee—simplifying administration and maximizing value.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a registered business or organization employing Energy Advisors or related professionals
  • All individuals listed must be direct employees of the company (not subcontractors)
